PUPPET ART ATTACKS SLAMCALL FOR SHORT WORKS OF GENIUS FOR THE PUPPET ART ATTACKS SLAMThe Voice 4 Vision Puppet Festival is seeking short works of genius for its 2011 Puppet Art Attacks Slam. Short works should be between three to eight minutes. We seek short, condensed works for puppetry that are: brilliant, witty, tragic, funny, stunning, startling, exotic, intelligent, political, wry, beautiful, wild, wacky, musical, lyrical, experimental, charming, poetic......but always demonstrate genius in a matter of minutes! Get to the Point! It's a Slam! The Slam is the closing performance for the Festival and is a highly attended event. Participants will need to be available to come to Theater for the New City beginning at 6:00 PM Dec.18 , 2011. Participation is open to any puppeteer who will be in New York City during the 2011 Festival. Use the "Puppet Art Attacks" contact form on the "Contact Forms for Submissions page" to send us a brief description of your short work of genius. Put "Puppet Art Attacks" in the subject line of your email or you may be deleted by accident. You should receive confirmation that your email has been received.

“International Puppet Gallery★ A call for submissions!!! ★The V4V Puppet Festival is returning this December. We are seeking your brilliant puppet designs and constructions for its 2011 Puppet Gallery. We are very excited to announce that for the first time, we want to invite National and International puppetry artists to share their work in high resolution photos as well. The semiotics of puppet design transcend global boundaries of language and culture. As a way of exploring this intriguing facet of puppetry, we would like to create an International collage of great puppet design to be exhibited during the festival. Your works will be on display for the entire two weeks of the Festival so that your peers and the public can have an opportunity to appreciate your work! See below for details. Hopefully, the gallery can provide a platform for all of us to communicate with each other and to grow together. Some things you need to know…………... Puppet Submission for NYC Metro Area Artists:1) The Gallery will open on Dec 8 and you will need to make arrangements to deliver and assist in placing your puppet(s) in the Gallery at the Theater for the New City between Dec 6 and Dec 8. 2) The festival will provide some basic platforms or tables for display. Please let us know in advance if you need a special set up for your puppet(s).3) You will be responsible for taking your piece(s) down on the evening of Dec.18 after the Puppet Slam. Photo submission for National and International artists: 1) We are seeking high resolution photos that can show the details of your puppet(s), or the design sketches.2) The sizes of the high resolution photo(s) have to be at least 8”X 10”. 3) Please mount the photo(s) the way you like contact Spica Wobbe for mailing address using the "Puppet Gallery" contact form on the "Contact Forms for Submissions page"4) If you are not able to send the photo(s) by mail, you may send the high resolution images in JPG format with at least 300dpi by e-mail using the "Puppet Gallery" contact form on the "Contact Forms for Submissions page." We will print them out and display them according to our design. 5) The Festival will not be able to offer any shipping cost or insurance. 6) Send a SASE for anything you would like to be returned. Festival info:The Voice 4 Vision Puppet Festival is a grass-roots, D-I-Y (Do It Yourself) style, artist-driven festival that was founded by Jane Catherine Shaw and Sarah Provost in 2004. The V4V Festival is committed to supporting and encouraging the recognition of New York-area artists, both emerging and established, who are creating works of merit. V4V seeks to boost the growth of artists by providing a much-needed venue for the presentation of full-length puppetry works. The Festival celebrates and promotes puppetry to New York audiences, and fosters community among artists working within the discipline of puppetry.
