V4V INDIVIDUAL SUBMISSIONSThe Tell Tale Heart is an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s chilling story of terror, murder and insanity. A young man becomes obsessively terrified of the sickly eye of the old man whom he cares for. All is seen from the perspective of the protagonist in a world inhabited entirely by puppets, who play all of the characters. This film draws heavily upon influences of Surrealism and of German Expressionism, which reflects the ambiguity of the young man’s reality (is he in the house remembering being in an asylum or is he in an asylum remembering being in the house?) The heightened reality of this disturbing puppet world reflects the near dream quality of the protagonist’s mental state, his perception and his stretched and twisted memory. This is a tale that plumbs the depths of horror and torture of the human soul.The Tell Tale Heart has been screened at the Eerie Horror Film Festival, The Atlanta Horror Film Festival, The Charlotte Film Festival, The Independents' Film Festival (in Fla), The Thriller, Chiller Film Festival (in Michigan), and The Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival, and has won the Director's choice Award in the Independents' Film Festival, Best Experimental Short Award at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival And A Remi Award From the Worldfest International Film Festival in Houston Texas.Lynne Cohen is an actress and filmmaker based in NYC- She received a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from the Boston Conservatory and has MFA candidacy in Puppetry from the University of Connecticut. From Off Broadway to Vancouver Island she has performed roles ranging from “Ophelia” in Shakespeare’s Hamlet to “Mouth” in Samuel Beckett’s Not I … to “Anne” in Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett’s The Diary of Anne Frank. As an actor, her film credits include Dawn’s Early Light, Standards, A Day At The Driving Range, Shy Child, Moon River, She Reminds Me Of A Cannoli, and Free Anytime Minutes (for AMC).
